02 Application engineering

Applications

01

Pump and treatment sequences

A PLC panel connects level, pressure and flow instruments with pump and valve commands. The I/O list and operating narrative define duty/standby sequences, alarms and interlocks. Instrument signal types, communication links and loss-of-signal behaviour must be agreed; panel hardware, programming and commissioning responsibilities need clearly defined boundaries.

02

Machines and production lines

Machine control panels connect sensors, actuators, drives and operator interfaces to the control system. I/O quantities, cycle sequences and network architecture determine the PLC hardware and cabinet layout. Safety functions require a separate risk assessment and suitable architecture; software scope, interfaces and handover documents belong in the project specification.

03

Process auxiliaries and supervision

Dust extraction, dosing and other process auxiliaries need coordinated field signals and permissives from the main process. Signal lists and communication protocols define the connection to PLC, HMI or supervisory systems. Cable segregation, shielding, terminal allocation and agreed alarm handling support a clear, maintainable control interface.

Enter details

Electrical values entered here are requested requirements. Equipment ratings must match the selected model and its technical datasheet.

Hardware assembly does not define the software scope. Programming, HMI development, source-file handover and commissioning must be listed and confirmed in the proposal.

04 Construction and options

Technical options

I/O requirement

Controller and I/O selection starts with the signal list and spare-channel requirement.

Operator interface

The HMI scope defines screens, commands and alarm presentation.

Component preference

Equipment interfaces identify signal levels, terminals and control responsibilities.

Communication requirement

Communication protocols must match the connected equipment and network architecture.

Supply voltage requested

Control supplies and protective devices are specified for each auxiliary circuit.

Requested scope

Software, source files, functional checks and commissioning need explicit scope and acceptance criteria.

05 Applicable standards and requirements

Standards

PLC Control & Automation Panels
Project specification
Technical references: IEC 61439-1 / IEC 61439-2 / IEC 60204-1. Confirm the applicable part and edition against the intended use and the proposed assembly documents. IEC 60204-1 applies when the panel forms part of a machine’s electrical equipment. Installation reference: SS 638.
Rating schedule
Confirm model ratings and installation limits from manufacturer documents.
Verification documents
Request verification and inspection records for the exact configuration.
Supply scope
Specify equipment, components, engineering, software and documents separately; the quotation confirms included items.
